MOULTONBOROUGH POLICE OFFICERS RECEIVE AWARDS

Interim Police Chief Sergeant Peter W. Beede, Jr. is proud to announce that on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, Detective Stephen Kessler and Officer Peter John received awards during a ceremony at New Hampshire Police Standards and Training, in Concord, NH. Detective Kessler and Officer John were two of fifteen officers in the entire State of New Hampshire that were honored at the “Looking Beyond the Traffic Ticket” Awards Ceremony. Detective Kessler received an award for “Excellent Police Tactics and Observation Skills,” as a result of checking a suspicious vehicle at a local business on February 27, 2010. Detective Kessler followed the fresh foot tracks in the snow from the vehicle to a residence, which resulted in Detective Kessler arresting an individual for Felonious Sexual Assault on a minor. Officer John received an award for “Dedicated Traffic Enforcement,” due to his efforts in apprehending violators for Falsifying Inspection Stickers/Registration Stickers, as well his commitment to the enforcement of motor vehicle laws and apprehension of impaired/intoxicated motorists. The awards that Detective Kessler and Officer John received are just two examples of the efforts of the department as a whole that have contributed to making the community a safer place to live, work and visit.

PERSONELL CHANGES AT MOULTONBOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT
Interim Police Chief Sergeant Peter W. Beede, Jr. is proud to announce the following personnel changes within the Moultonborough Police Department.
On Thursday, December 1, 2011, Patrol Officer Colin LeBlanc was promoted to Master Patrol Officer. Master Patrol Officer LeBlanc has served the citizens of Moultonborough since 2006 and is currently a department Field Training Officer (F.T.O.), a member of the Belknap County Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team and a member of the Belknap County Special Operations Group. The rank of Master Patrol Officer is a status position within the department and is achieved when an officer reaches five years of service as a full-time certified police officer with a minimum of two years with the department, a minimum of a police instructor certification and specialized police certification and satisfactory or greater performance evaluations.

Also on Thursday, December 1, 2011, our newest officer, Patrol Officer Jonathan Kleiber was sworn in by Select board Chairman Joel Mudgett. Patrol Officer Kleiber is a native of Milton, MA and moved to Michigan to attend school. Patrol Officer Kleiber received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Michigan University. Patrol Officer Kleiber resided in Michigan for ten years. Patrol Officer Kleiber is now residing in Moultonborough and is currently in the first phases of the Field Training Program with department Field Training Officers (F.T.O.). Patrol Officer Kleiber will begin the 157th New Hampshire Full Time Police Academy at New Hampshire Police Standards and Training, in Concord, NH, on Monday, January 9, 2012. With the swearing in of Patrol Officer Kleiber, this brings Moultonborough PD closer to being at full staff of twelve full-time officers with the only vacancy being the position of Chief of Police.

On Friday, December 2, 2011, Patrol Officer Daniel Ingram graduated from the 156thNew Hampshire Full Time Police Academy at New Hampshire Police Standards and Training, in Concord, NH. The academy started on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, and is a total of fourteen weeks long. On Monday, December 5, 2011, Patrol Officer Ingram returned to the department and completed his final phases of the Field Training Program with department Field Training Officers (F.T.O.) Sergeant Joseph Canfield, Master Patrol Officer Colin LeBlanc and Officer Peter John. On Monday, January 2, 2012, Patrol Officer Ingram was released from the Field Training Program and was assigned to solo patrol.

2nd ANNUAL CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY
The Moultonborough Police Department is seeking volunteer citizens of Moultonborough to join our ten week Citizen Police Academy
to be held in early 2012. This program will meet once every Wednesday night and give citizens an inside look at how the police department operates and a first-hand look at what it takes to be a police officer.
Participants will be exposed to many facets of police work, including patrol ride-a-longs, courtroom observation, firearm familiarization, investigations, accident reconstruction, K-9 demonstrations and much more! The academy will include classroom presentations by police officers, tours of the police station, dispatch centers and jail, and hands on practical exercises. Class size is limited.
Applications can be picked up at the Moultonborough Police Department
and are available online.
