MOULTONBOROUGH POLICE
DEPARTMENT EXPLORER POST 142
|
The Moultonborough Police Department
Explorer Post 142 was established on
March 9, 2000 by then Corporal
Douglas Wyman of the Moultonborough
Police Department, who is now the
Chief of Police of the Sandwich
Police Department. The Explorer Post
is affiliated with the Exploring
Division of the Daniel Webster
Council of the Boy Scouts of
America.
The mission of the Explorer Post
is to serve others by helping
instill core values in young people,
and in other ways prepare them to
make ethical choices throughout
their lives so they can reach their
full potential. The Explorer Post is
open to all males and females
between the ages of 14 and 21 years
of age from the Town of
Moultonborough, as well as
neighboring communities without
Explorer Posts.

Explorers should be of good
moral character and have no criminal
record. The Code of Conduct for the
Explorer Post is that Explorers
conduct themselves in a professional
and polite manner, refrain from
possessing or ingesting any
substance, attend post functions,
mentor fellow peers in and out of
school, maintain a 70 or better
grade point average, keep uniform in
excellent appearance and condition
and only wear when authorized to,
not commit any offense against the
laws of the State of New Hampshire
or United States of America, and
report any infractions committed by
the Explorer or another Explorer and
intervene to attempt to prevent
another Explorer from committing an
honor code violation. Any Explorer
found to have violated the Code of
Conduct can result in an Explorer
being disciplined by the post or
expelled from the membership.
During Explorer Post meetings,
Explorers are exposed to the
different aspects of Law Enforcement
through classroom training, as well
as hands on training. Explorers also
have the opportunity to do ride-alongs
with police officers and get
firsthand experience as to what a
police officer encounters during his
or her shift.

Explorers also have an
opportunity to attend the New
Hampshire Police Cadet Training
Academy, which is week long program
held at Hesser College in Manchester
at the end of June of each year. The
New Hampshire Police Cadet Training
Academy is broken down into three
sessions, which are Basic (1st year
cadets), Advanced (2nd year cadets),
and Leadership (3rd year cadets).
The New Hampshire Police Cadet
Training Academy is open to all
youths between 14 and 20 years of
age and is designed to allow youths
to have exposure to different
aspects of Law Enforcement, as well
as teach them about self-discipline,
pride, teamwork, motivation and
respect.
